Thailand

Beautiful, warm temperatures and smiles from the country of friendly faces. Thailand is worth considering for so many reasons–not least because of the virtually traffic-free nature of the countryside roads. Plus, even on busier roads there are usually dedicated cycle lanes, and drivers are very courteous as they are used to seeing cyclists.

From the flatlands to scaling mountains, rapid descent to collapsing onto white sandy beaches, there is something to satiate everyone’s riding appetite. Follow up any ride by diving into the country’s culture and history, which are waiting to be explored. The temperature averages around 27 degrees while we’re busy turning up the heating, but be warned the humidity can be high. Their cool season (still comparatively warm) is between November to February so it’s a good reason to travel there over the winter months.

Routes such as the Mae Hong Son Loop and Bangkok to Phuket are worth considering: Mae Hong Son takes your through mountains and up Doi Inthanon, whereas Bangkok to Phuket winds along the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, finishing in Phuket to lay back and enjoy the Andaman Sea. Tempting, right?
