Croatia

For those of you that haven’t experienced this Dalmatian dotted beauty, the crystal clear waters are punctuated by the many islands, hence its reference to a spotted dog, are something quite spectacular and provide a pretty perfect backdrop. Mixed between Mediterranean, Alpine and continental climates, this is a fine demonstration of diversity.

Great food and drink are like its islands – plentiful. The Pelješac peninsula caters to many a hungry cyclist. The oysters harvested from the clear waters are said to be at their best during the winter months.

The narrow Mali Ston bay situated between the mainland and Pelješac opens up and takes you along 100 km of coastline.

If you fancy heading over to an island then let Korčula give you a sunny welcome, which has plenty of quiet roads and even more great restaurants to sample the local cuisine. At the end of a hard day, we suggest finding Massimo, a cocktail bar that’s located on top of an old 15th century turret. You have to climb a ladder to the top for great sunset views over the sea – probably best to avoid racing up it in your cleats!
