New Zealand

It might seem extravagant to suggest that Northern Hemisphere dwellers should cross the globe, but we can’t recommend New Zealand highly enough. The scenery of these glorious islands ranges from white sandy beaches to glacial lakes and subtropical forests. Most of the time you’ll be exploring in peace, as the population is so sparse.

One of the best days on the bike was a trip to Waiheke Island. There’s a 40-minute ferry crossing from Auckland and this island is worth taking a whole day to explore. Take time to acquaint yourself with the beautiful white beaches – freshen up with a dive into the sea then finish your day with a glass of some of New Zealand’s finest at one of the many vineyards on the Island. It doesn’t get much better than the terrace at Mudbrick vineyard. This is how cycling should be done.
