USA Southern Tier Bike Route

Ok, so this is an ambitious wildcard for some winter training. A 4,088 kilometer wild card that traverses the USA from the Pacific Coast to Atlantic. San Diego, California is kilometer 0 – St. Augustine, Florida marks the line of success.

This route illustrates the variety of culture that resides within the US, Hispanic flavours that influence California, to indigenous pueblo cultures thriving in Arizona and New Mexico, to the Spanish mark left in Texas by conquistadors, to the presence of past French revelry left upon Louisiana, not forgetting life’s colour in Mississippi and Alabama. This route deserves not to be passed in a blurr. Take time for your mind to capture landscapes as diverse as mountain, desert and pristine beaches as well as getting to know a few people on the way. It will create an experience to be treasured. The people living in the Davis Mountains are some of the friendliest you’ll meet.

Warm weather is pretty much guaranteed during the daytime, but in the mountains and desert it can dramatically drop to sub-zero temperatures at night, so preparation is key. If this wild card seems daunting, then you can always break down the route into more manageable chunks. Just don’t disregard it straightaway, ok?
