POC AVIP Crash Protect Clothing

POC AVIP 002 1140x760

POC’s super stylish debut collection – AVIP has been a staple in their road cycling wear for a few years now. AVIP which stands for Attention, Visibility, Interaction and Protection is a bright design that is meant to not only make you highly visible but the design of the pattern from behind apparently elongates your body making you appear larger.

The ceramic fabric on the new AVIP apparel is to help reduce road rash in the unfortunate case you decide to get a bit too close with the Tarmac!

For 2018 POC have further developed this range to include low friction ceramic panels in strategic zones on the kit which are the most likely to make contact with the road if you take a tumble; so reducing road rash around the shoulders and upper thigh areas. The ceramic infused material definitely feels tougher – unfortunately though, we weren’t massively keen to put it to the test! Prices for the range: AVIP Shortsleeve Ceramic Jersey € 179.95, AVIP Longsleeve Ceramic Jersey € 199.95, AVIP Ceramic VPDs Bib Short € 249.95. The range will be available from March 2018.

POC Spin Helmet Protection System

POC SPIN 001 1140x760
The new SPIN protection pads designed by the scientists at POC Lab

SPIN – short for Shearing Pad INside, is the new helmet padding system developed in the POC lab. Head injury has been a hotly discussed topic this year. POC say the concept is designed as a rotational impact system that moves with the head during oblique impacts, which is when some of the most severe head injuries can occur. SPIN is similar to that of the MIPS design that many helmets in the industry have adopted, but this time the rotating surface is incorporated into the pad material itself rather than using a cradle. This new technology from POC will be integrated into models across their range, such as the Octal X for early 2018. The price for the Octal X SPIN will be € 279,95 and will be available from March 2018.
