Danish consumer electronics brand Bang & Olufsen design and manufacture high-end audio equipment while Rapha are known for their functional cycling kit. Together, Rapha and Bang & Olufsen aim to take your indoor training experience to a new level with the Beoplay E8 Sport headphones, specially designed for sports enthusiasts. The strictly limited edition headphones form part of Rapha’s special indoor collection, their powerful speakers delivering the perfect beat for your workout and allowing you to make the most out of your training sessions. The exclusive in-ear headphones combine functionality with aesthetic design, the Bang & Olufsen and Rapha logos proudly adorned on the headphones and charging case.
Rapha + Bang & Olufsen BEOPLAY E8 Sport headphones in detail
The Sport headphones feature noise-canceling technology and are housed in a wireless charging case, both made of functional materials such as rubber and textured silicone combined with anodized aluminium details, making a very elegant impression. Of course, they wouldn’t be complete without Rapha’s signature pink accent, which offers a colourful contrast to the otherwise stealthy black design. Thanks to the latest connection interfaces including Bluetooth 5.1, AAC and aptX codec, the BEOPLAY E8 Sport headphones should be compatible with all iOS and Android devices, according to the manufacturer. A successful pairing with your smartphone is fittingly confirmed by the sound of cowbells – a homage to the culture of cheering cycling fans. Included in the scope of delivery is a large selection of different earbuds and fins, which should allow you to find the perfect fit and keep the headphones securely in place even when you’re putting in a full-effort sprint to the finish. Here, comfort is just as important as the quality of the sound.
Being IP57 certified for water resistance, the headphones should withstand even the sweatiest of workouts. Due to their generous battery life, the BEOPLAY E8 Sport aren’t just for quick sprints, offering music playback for up to seven hours so that all indoor marathoners get their money’s worth. The silicone-coated charging case offers a total of 3 complete charging cycles for the headphones and, with its slim dimension, it should fit into the smallest jersey pockets. Together with the charging case, the BEOPLAY E8 Sport system easily offers a total runtime of 28 hours.
Thanks to recessed and slightly profiled surfaces, the earphones offer sufficient grip even when wet so that the controls always remain comfortable and intuitive to use. For example, allowing you to switch from noise-canceling to transparency mode with a single movement.
Christoffer Pulsen, VP of Product Management at Bang & Olufsen explains: “Music has the ability to push you to your limits and achieve your highest training goals. We look forward to our partnership with Rapha to create the best possible indoor training experience with Bang & Olufsen’s first sports-specific headphones. The Beoplay E8 Sport combine a waterproof design that is individually adaptable for the most comfortable and secure fit, long playback time and, most of all, high-quality audio, allowing you to put in your best effort.”
The Rapha special edition of the Beoplay E8 Sport will be available in very limited numbers on www.rapha.cc and www.bang-olufsen.com and in selected Bang & Olufsen stores as well as Rapha Clubhouses from November 16. Starting today, all Rapha RCC members already have the opportunity to secure themselves these early Christmas presents.
The collaboration between Rapha and Bang & Olufsen seems logical in terms of their respective missions: maximum functionality and timeless design. We think it’s one of the best collaborations of the year! Even if Rapha markets the limited Beoplay E8 Sport headphones exclusively for use on an indoor trainer, we can imagine that they’ll cut an equally good figure on your daily commute by train or any other means of public transport.
