If only stamp collectors knew the vast empire of socks that they could be collecting instead of those little squares; we’re not sure stamps work as well as #sockgame on Instagram. Honey bear, sabre-tooth tiger or mandrill? Just because you’re pushing your body to its limits, doesn’t mean you should forget your values. Forget supermarket gels and squashed bananas, only the best bars will do for our fine-dining follies on the bike. The Berlin-based start-up Kraft des Urstromtals make their bars by hand, using cherry-picked, exotic ingredients. Not your everyday energy bar fare, these bars feature everything from elk to pistachios, olive oil to chilli pepper, lime juice to walnuts. Right now the brand have three bars: vegetarian, vegan and carnivore. If you’re going to give everything on the bike, then why not do it in style? Plus, having scoffed many of these bars during our group tests in Barcelona, we can vouch for their prowess when it comes to refueling the body.
