As the successor for the successful Fusion 3 tires, Hutchinson claim to have optimized five key areas of the tire: grip, efficiency, durability, puncture resistance and comfort. However, as each rider enjoys their own definition of these factors, Hutchinson naturally felt that 15 versions of the Fusion 5 would cover all the bases.

The Fusion 5 Galactik (23 and 25 mm available) has the thinnest rubber casing in the quick-rolling rubber compound HDF >5.1 and a low weight at just 180 g, as well as being tubeless compatible, making it the ideal package for performance-focused riders.

The HDF >5.2 rubber compound is reputed to bridge the gap between high puncture resistance and a decent weight. Consequently the Fusion 5 Performance is slightly heavier, but its Kevlar casing also makes it more durable. The regular clincher version comes in 23, 25 or 28 mm, and tubeless comes in 23 and 25 mm models.

The heaviest in the range, the Fusion 5 All Season promises the most all-round competences from summer to winter. The HDF >5.3 compound is also stated to be the most durable.

The tubular Fusion 5 was developed alongside two pro teams: Direct Energie and Armée de Terre. The latex inner tube inside the tub keeps the weight down and boosts comfort.
