Classified release carbon wheels with Powershift geared hub for road and gravel bikes

It’s time: Classified is presenting its new carbon wheels for road and gravel bikes, which you can buy through a network of accredited bike shops and Classified’s web shop. The rear wheel in the new wheelsets is equipped with Classified’s Powershift hub, which replaces the front derailleur. All information about the wheels can be found here in the press release.

Three new wheelsets to equip bikes with Classified technology

Classified Cycling launched its revolutionary virtual front derailleur, which is incorporated in the rear wheel hub, in August – we have already tested the Classified geared hub in detail for you (click for review). And now Classified is bringing three carbon wheelsets to the market, so bike lovers can add the start-up’s Powershift technology to their existing bike or have it fitted on a new one. There are two wheelsets with 35 or 50 mm rims for road bikes, and one wheelset for gravel bikes with a rim height of 30 mm.

The wheels are tubeless-ready and only compatible with disc brakes. All three wheels have 24 DT Swiss AEROLITE SP spokes and a DT Swiss 240 DBCL Straightpull front hub. The Classified wheelsets are only available in combination with a Classified Powershift hub. Extra wheelsets without the Powershift hub are also available. The entire set with two wheels, Powershift hub, smart thru-axle and cassette is priced at € 2,399. The installation dimensions are 12 x 100 mm at the front and 12 x 142 mm at the rear. The following 11-speed cassettes are currently available: 11–27, 11–30, 11–32 and 11–34. The Classified Powershift hub can be coupled with the left Shimano Di2 shift lever in the configuration, but can also be upgraded to any other bike with an 11-speed groupset using satellite shifters, which will be included in the box when buying a wheelset incl. powershift hub.

Classified-certified dealers

Classified is selling its wheelsets and shifting technology through a network of Classified certified dealers and its own online store. In both cases, Classified supplies the products to the selected certified dealer who then fits them to the customer’s bike. Classified is using this model to guarantee quick and easy installation and premium service. Customers can already order a Classified wheelset, with dealers receiving first deliveries in February. These dealers will mostly be in Belgium and the Netherlands to start with, but Classified will be expanding its European network further over the coming months.

Now we’re introducing our extremely high quality carbon wheels onto the market so customers have easier access to our technology. This also makes strategic sense as it means we’re no longer fully reliant on cycle manufacturers.

Our assessment of the Classified carbon wheels

Classified took the next step in the development and now offers the Powershift geared hub to a wide audience. Those interested in the system no longer have to buy one of the few bikes equipped with the geared hub, but can retrofit their own bike with the Classified hub. The hub has already convinced us in the test and we are curious to see how the carbon wheelset performs in practice!

More information about the Classified geared hub can be found in our detailed test (click for the review of the Classified Powershift hub) and at classified-cycling.cc
