Just by looking at the SCOTT Addict Gravel 10 you understand what it wants to be: fast and uncompromising. At the same time, the Swiss catch your eye with a loud yet very elegant gold-glittering finish on the frame. Now the question is: How much Bang will you actually get for € 5,799?

The SCOTT Addict Gravel 10 in detail

The SCOTT Addict Gravel 10 is linear and bear. It doesn’t feature busy graphics, complex structures or innovative designs. It’s just designed to do its job — no more, no less. It’s built to get you from A to B as quickly and as sportily as possible, no matter what sort of terrain you’re riding on. Apart from the glam paint job the aesthetics are simple and linear. The Addict comes with a SRAM Force 1 groupset with a 42 t chainring and a large 10-42 SRAM XG 1195 cassette.

Very clean and pretty aggressive: the shape of the headtube and the cable ports.

The colour-scheme underlines the formal language of the frame — very interesting indeed
Here too you’re given the option of running a 2x setup.

The cockpit consists of a Syncros RR1.5 stem and Syncros Creston SL Flare handlebars — not bad at all. The 440 mm-wide handlebars stretch out to 500 mm in the drops and present the biggest flare in our test field. The combination of a carbon seat post and Tofino T-Cutout 1.0 saddle provides damping in the rear-end. The Addict features SCOTT’s in-house Meritt 1.0 35 Disc wheels paired with 35 mm Schwalbe G-One Allround tires. In this setup, the ADDICT weighs in at an incredible 7.58 kg — which is awesome for an L-sized gravel rig.

First riding impressions

Like Jason Statham — only with a little more inclination towards flashy paint jobs — the SCOTT Addict gets you over forest motorways at unbelievable speeds straight from the word go. But there’s one thing we noticed straight away: the comfort variable doesn’t appear in SCOTT’s equation. This means you can feel the road in its purest form — but also every single stone that lies on it. You feel like you’re sitting on a thoroughbred racing bike with chunky tires and end up riding at the limit all the time. This makes the Addict Gravel 10 lots of fun on the road but also a little scary on the trail.

Tuning tip:
weicherer LRS mit mehr Komfort, um Systemkomfort zu erhöhen
Lenker mit weniger Drop, um Sitzposition-Unterschiede zu verkleinern

The stiff frameset and wheels cause the Scott to lose traction a little too easily and only experienced riders will be able to control it and get to the bottom of the trail in one piece. On the other hand, the precise handling allows you to choose your lines rather than let the bike do it. However, every time our test riders came across bigger obstacles, potholes or pronounced roots the stiff chassis lifted them off the saddle almost throwing them over the bars. The front-end of the Addict Gravel 10 is very stiff too; this wants to be guided all the time and requires constant attention, which can become exhausting when riding long distances. There’s one more thing that will prevent you from riding long stretches on the Scott: There’s not one single mounting point for bags or other accessories. The pure racing character of the Addict is perfect for cyclocross races and turbo-trainer sessions – one hour at a time!

Conclusion

The SCOTT Addict Gravel 10 is a bike for roadies who like rushing over forest paths and have no interest in long tours with luggage. Without compromises and regardless of the consequences: The SCOTT is incredibly efficient, stiff, fast, and… very uncomfortable. Your weapon of choice for frenetic KOM hunts through the city park.
