Voltaire, Leonardo da Vinci, Immanuel Kant and Coco Chanel. The world needs people with new perspectives; it needs those imbued with the drive to create and the ambition to push boundaries. What might seem impossible at the outset frequently becomes the adopted practice and common belief in the future. That’s exactly why we approached fashion photographer Sebas Romero for our cycling shoot in Barcelona, taking a new stance in the world of road cycling.
The long-established aesthetic of road cycling has had its day. In its place are a swathe of new, upcoming brands from Australia, North and Eastern Europe, Asia and the US.
The once traditional boundaries between road cycling, cyclo-cross, fixed gear and commuter riding are blurring and anarchy is edging its way in. Take cues from Peter Sagan in the peloton, and listen to David Millar’s aversion to the billboard-esque kits of pro teams.
Wouldn’t our lives be a drag if everything was black and white? How long would it take for us to tire of life if everyone mutely followed the rules? How dull would the everyday be if there were no flashes of inspiration and creativity from new perspectives?
Viva la revolution!
