Pinarello have launched their first electric road bike: meet the Pinarello Nytro. Based on the popular Dogma F10 geometry the Italian company want to revolutionize the way you ride forever. Will they achieve it?

Similar to the Focus Project Y and the Cube Agree Hybrid C:62 the new Pinarello Nytro will use the Fazua Evation motor. The frame mounted motor features 4 support levels: No support, Breeze (up to 125W), River (up to 250W) and Rocket – according to Pinarello this mode will deliver up to 400W.

The weight of the bike played a fundamental role when developing the new Nytro. According to Pinarello, the high-end carbon bike will weigh in at around 13 kg. In order to address the increased stress on the frame through the additional power, Pinarello has designed the frame of the Nytro asymmetrically reinforcing the drivetrain side to manage the increased torque. Further, Pinarello claims to have invested a lot of energy into aerodynamics. The bike will retail at around € 6,000, production will start in January 2018.

Conclusion: Pinarello Nytro

A first test will reveal how the concept of the Pinarello Nytro will truly perform. While the integration and the optics look promising, the bulky display, unfortunately, does not. From a design perspective, the central weight distribution of the frame mounted motor and battery should offer the best solution for balanced handling, but will the motor software be refined before the bike comes into production? We can’t wait to put one to the test!
