Starting at just €2,199 the full carbon CF SL 7.0 with the hover system packs a good punch that’s easy on the wallet. Rocking a full Shimano 105 groupset and disc brakes, the drivetrain features a 50/34 – 11-32 ratio for easy going climbing and 22 mm internal DT Swiss C 1800 aluminium wheels and Schwalbe G-One Bite 40 mm tires. The bike is finished with a Fizik Aliante (a Selle Italia X1 Lady Flow for the women) seat mounted to the superb VCLS 2.0 seatpost. Weighing in at 8.62kg it’s not even that heavy.

For an extra €400 over the Canyon Grail CF SL 7.0, you can upgrade to the SL 8.0 with a full Shimano Ultegra drivetrain and disc brake set. This provides a little more range with a 50/34 – 11-34 ratio and shaves 220 g off the weight of the bike. Colours are the same throughout the range with a choice of Meteor grey and Carbon copper.

Certainly to be the most popular model, the CF SL 8.0 Di2 features a full electronic Shimano Ultegra Di2 drivetrain, providing impeccable shifting and easy setup. While this adds 140 g (8.54 kg) compared to the mechanical Ultegra CF SL 8.0, it is an affordable entry into the world of electronic shifting. The Schwalbe G-One Bite tires see an upgrade to the tubeless TLE model.

If you value aero wheels more than electronics, for the same price as the Ultegra Di2 model, the CF SL 8.0 AERO returns to a mechanical Ultegra drivetrain but sees a significant wheel upgrade to the carbon fibre Reynolds Assault ATR Disc rims. With a 40 mm deep profile, 24 spokes, a wider 23 mm rim bed and adds a dose of precision to the handling and carves 100 g from the weight.
