With the KICKR BIKE, Wahoo is introducing a networked and fully integrated training device for the indoor cycling community. Read on to find out more about the brand-new indoor bike.

The Wahoo KICKR BIKE wants to make indoor training more realistic than ever. Based on Wahoo’s existing training ecosystem, the exercise bike combines numerous features, which are used to provide a deceptively real riding experience. Developed for passionate cyclists and triathletes, the KICKR BIKE is supposed to be an uncompromising solution for a holistic and year-round training.

“Over the past five years we’ve experienced a massive boom in indoor cycling and of course in the sales of our KICKR Indoor Smart Trainers,” says Mike Saturnia, CEO of Wahoo Fitness. “In this time, we’ve launched the most comprehensive ecosystem of networked indoor cycling products currently available on the market. The KICKR BIKE represents the next Wahoo generation in this booming market and delivers the most comprehensive and unparalleled riding experience in its class. It’s the ultimate product for demanding athletes who are following state-of-the-art, number-based training methods and looking for a high-quality, feature-packed, responsive and dedicated indoor bike to take their fitness to the next level.”

Thanks to the Wahoo app, the installation should be intuitive and straightforward. A step-by-step ensures that all personal preferences are taken into account. At the same time, a practical video guide guides you through the installation process, which should take around 10 minutes. Users can also use the Wahoo app to adjust all of the most important bike settings: Shoot a photo of your own bike, add your body measurements or use the data from a professional bike fitting system such as RETUL or GURU. This way you can transfer the measurements of the five main contact points from your road-bike directly onto your indoor bike. In addition to the five-point adjustment system of the Wahoo Exercise Bike, a special crankset with five possible crank lengths provides an exact reproduction of the rider’s own bike. The system also allows you to configure all of the key assignment of the shifters, and lets you set the angle of the KICKR BIKE between -10° and +20° or control third-party app functions such as Zwift or Sufferfest.

The KICKR BIKE combines the riding experience of a KICKR trainer with new innovations such as the integrated incline and descent simulator. The integrated front and rear wheel brakes allow exactly the same control as on a real ride. The shifters of the KICKR BIKE can be configured and adapted to seven different and individual groupsets from leading manufacturers. This way you can simulate the shifting behaviour of a Shimano Di2, SRAM eTap and Campagnolo EPS system. In addition, the KICKR BIKE pilot can determine its own gear range both for the chainring and the cassette gradation.

Prices and Availability

The KICKR BIKE will be available in the USA from October 2019 and worldwide from January 2020. On the U.S. market, the indoor bike will retail at $3,499.99. Unfortunately, WAHOO hasn’t yet released its Euro prices.

Conclusion

With the KICKR BIKE, Wahoo is taking a holistic approach to home training. Ambitious hobby riders, as well as full-time professionals, will appreciate the individually adjustable riding position and intuitive operation. Only a thorough test will reveal how realistic the riding experience actually is.
