With the G-One RS Pro, Schwalbe are not just aiming to offer the fastest gravel tire in their own line-up, but one of the fastest on the market full stop. They back this up with a strong track record in pro racing, taking numerous wins on the gravel scene. The key to its speed lies in a distinctive tread design. The wide centre strip features minimal knobs, focusing on speed and efficiency, while taller and broader shoulder lugs add grip when cornering.
One particularly interesting feature is that the tread is not simply designed for one rolling direction. Instead, it can be mounted differently depending on whether it is used on the front or rear wheel. Mount it one way for extra rear traction, or flip it around to improve efficiency on the front. It is a clever concept, but can the G-One RS Pro live up to its bold claims in a direct comparison?
Speed King with Quirks: Schwalbe G-One RS Pro in the 2026 Gravel Tire Group Test
The German brand have a single goal with the Schwalbe G-One RS Pro: to create the fastest gravel tire on the market. But does it deliver? At 516 g, the numbers look promising. It is not the lightest in the test field, but it sits well below the 570 g average, and it’s by far the lightest Schwalbe tire on test. The theory suggests that less material should mean greater efficiency, and in the case of the G-One RS Pro, that holds true. With a rolling resistance of 10.6 W, it is the fastest gravel tire in the entire test field, 0.5 W quicker than the next best, the Continental Terra Competition. Both tires sit clear of the rest of the field as the only models to break the 12 W barrier.
When it comes to grip, the G-One RS Pro performs particularly well on hard surfaces, where its wide contact patch and grippy rubber compound generate plenty of traction. However, as soon as conditions become loose or muddy, the shallow tread quickly reaches its limits and grip drops off. It excels on light gravel, where it almost feels glued to the ground, and grip increases noticeably when leaned over thanks to the more aggressive shoulder lugs. This tread design also defines the handling. The broad central tread results in slightly sluggish response to steering input, and while this helps the tire to track in a straight line, it also calls for a slightly more heavy-handed approach into the corners. At the same time, the softer side knobs can cause it to tip onto the shoulders. It’s incredibly fast, but not always the most engaging ride.
Compliance, on the other hand, is genuinely impressive, on a par with the Schwalbe Thunder Burt. The soft casing and minimal tread both play their part here. Surprisingly for such a minimalist tire, the G-One RS Pro also offers above-average performance in our puncture testing. It stands out particularly in puncture resistance, although its smooth, flat tread design may help its test performance – our puncture testing is carried out between the tread knobs for fairness. Pinch flat protection sits right around the average.

Conclusion on the Schwalbe G-One RS Pro
The Schwalbe G-One RS Pro aims for maximum efficiency, and proves itself impressively in the 2026 gravel tire group test. As expected, its standout feature is outright speed, but it also impresses with strong grip on hard surfaces and, above all, excellent compliance. The trade-off comes in the form of slightly sluggish handling, which takes some getting used to. If you are chasing uncompromising speed on light gravel, it is hard to look past the G-One RS Pro. It also works well as a rear tire, paired with a G-One R or RX up front if you want sharper handling and added grip.
