Purely for serious bike fans and basically anyone who wants to kick off Berlin Bicycle Week with a race that’s equally as fun as it is spectacular: the Trek E-Derny Race powered by Diamant is a homage to derny racing but with a whole new take on the legendary format. There’ll be eight two-person teams battling for victory, with an S-Pedelec Diamant 825+ doubling as the modern derny, while racers climb aboard a Trek Madone 9 or an Émonda SLR.

Held in knockout style, this derny race will be decided by the close cooperation between the racer and the pace-setter. After all, the tempo they set and the strategy chosen by the pair will be crucial for victory. Racing as duos, the former Tempelhof airfield by Tempelhofer Damm will be the stage for nail-biting and leg-burning head-to-head racing. The semi-finals and the final will both last a full thirty minutes.

As any good derny race demands, there’ll be a wide range of activities on site led by Trek, Diamant and GRAN FONDO – Cycling Magazine to keep up spirits and make it a day of racing to remember. Spectators can expect a few surprises!
