Fulcrum release new top of the range Clincher wheelset

Italian components crafts folk, Fulcrum, are throwing all the technology they can at a new lighter, faster clincher wheelset, but will it be the one wheel to rule them all?

With Grand Tour season upon us, we’re all feeling the inspiration to get out and ride like the heroes of the road. Although you might not be able to emulate their speed, fitness or team car support, Fulcrum’s new Speed 40 Clincher wheels let you get a little closer to the action without the peril of tubular wheels. An inner tube, tyre lever and pump are easier to organise than a spare-wheel-carrying entourage for your pinch punctured tubs.

As well as throwing everything they have at the Fulcrum Speed 40 Clincher Wheels in terms of speed and aerodynamics, Fulcrum also know that a wheel needs to last! The average rider doesn’t have racks of wheels in their shed and needs one wheel to do it all – will this be the one to rule them all?

Technologies

Fulcrum have used their 3Diamant™ braking surface technology to give these wheels the same flawless braking feel of their pro wheels. The technology encourages heat dissipation and creates a more linear and smooth overall braking performance which promises to last for the life of the wheel.

The 40mm profile rim promises aerodynamic efficiency as well as top-notch rigidity and reactivity. Coupled with a small 28mm carbon fibre front hub for even more aerodynamic advantage, this is going to be a very quick wheel. To keep your ride smooth, USB™ ceramic bearings make sure all your energy is going where it should be, straight to the asphalt.

The most important feature of the Fulcrum Speed 40 clincher wheelset is the promise that the rims will last! The rims are moulded with spoke holes already in place to avoid the weakening process of drilling, the DRSC™ tech on the nipple ends distribute force rather than allowing it to act acutely causing stress points and the MoMag™ construction eliminates spoke holes on the inner surface increasing rim lifetime and resistance to fatigue.

Fulcrum are really proud of their newest offering, they’ve poured a lot of love and Italian flair into their manufacture. Each wheel is assembled by hand, making sure that nothing substandard reaches the people on the ground, the people who will be riding these wheels day in and day out.
